Aside from being a slave or a gladiator, there isn't much legitimate work for Dragonborns in Tarhun's homeland. Tarhun decided to take the middle way and become a bodyguard. Through the years after Caeldrim was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west.
