Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by gnolls, and he desires to right it; and he feels kind of lost in life

When money was particularly tight she was walking through alleys when she overheard a Mercenary hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. She made her way to the other competitor and parlayed her knowledge into a job. She became a plane-shifter, and is stopping over on this plane for a brief visit.
