History: Born in the west to a Dilettante, Roland learned a great deal about his father's area of expertise. In his youth he was a Ploughman, and wanted to be a champion fighter when he grew up. He was working during a period of war, and as one of the natives he lived in fear of joining the others in being slaughtered. He saw the brutality and swore off his fighting aspirations, taking his younger sister on his back after seeing his parents die, and fled the country. He has taken up work as a Dilettante and fed both sides of the war false information with the goal of increasing casualties.

He is fiercely devoted to his mother, and views his mother's ex-spouse as an evil person for separating him from his legal half-brother.

History: He was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. Ostracized due to the martial powers of his oldest brother, he and his siblings struck out on their own. In the process these unassuming Gnomes became a terror of the countryside. Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Scribe they were divorced and he won custody of their daughter. He worked as a Mason, and he later adopted a second daughter.

History: Her father raised her in a mountain cabin. From there she went from mercenary job to mercenary job. She now travels the world, in search of power and loot.

Motivation: Meet up once more with her childhood friend; and she desires power and/or immortality
