History: Sold as a small child to a brothel owner, Shaena was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. History: He was born to a wealthy landowner in a frontier town, living a normal and happy childhood. His mother had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted him to inherit them. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

History: The child of western immigrants she idolized her mother. Quilla was born on a far western desert where she grew up under the tutelage of her mother, an expert Barber. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

History: His parents moved while he was still in utero so he is the first generation to be born here. He moved from fad to fad and when he turned 15 he discovered painting. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.
