He was a general practitioner in the north for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way east. Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Barrister they were divorced and he won custody of their daughter. He worked as a Bookbinder, and he later adopted a second daughter.

History: Born to a Weaver, his father struggled to pay the bills. His spouse left him for another, whom he beat to an almost bloody pulp. He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He has since married many spouses, only to have them die. He claims to not be responsible.

Motivation: Wishes to resurrect an old love; and retire the richest man in the west

History: She served in the navy to pay for her family's outstanding loans. She couldn't stand her childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with her mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. She ran away from her former home and has been making her living as a Bowyer for the past few years.

Motivation: She feels that her past leaves her morally obligated to help; and she wants nothing more than to rejoin the army
