History: Birel was born the youngest of three triplets. A freak accident while working with her Bellfounder mother left her crippled. She was always very intelligent and has formed a secret society of philosophers.

Personality: He hates illithids. He views them as having robbed his home of its proper glory. The war was a terrible time for him, and Kairon does not often speak of it. When he does, he does so with a strained expression and tears in his eyes.

History: Born in a small village he learned the ways of the warrior from his mother. He was an athlete and attended two major summer competitions. He never won. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to illithids demanding more tribute than usual.
