To get what you want from life, you must take it. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: Many dire rats want him driven away; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and he desires to right it

She tries to control her temper but she can't always stop herself from what she feels what must be done. She is accommodating to her spouse and as such limits her hospitality.
