It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. She has done her darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

Personality: She tends to agree with only herself unless someone else's opinion sounds like she can profit from it. She tries to control her temper but she can't always stop herself from what she feels what must be done. She is skeptical of what others tell her and is slow to trust.

History: The child of northern immigrants she idolized her father. A serious injury left her father unemployed and in need of constant care. Her family became saddled with debt trying to care for her infirm father. After a long history of fighting, Merla and her spouse have recently divorced.

Motivation: She made a deal with a demon which lead to her current lot in life, and she's becoming increasingly nervous about it; and to pay off her debts

Description: This fat western woman has a bulbous nose and wears an old set of leather armor, nicked and torn by the ravages of time and battle. Her skin is also unnaturally pale. She has styled her auburn hair well, parting it to the left. She has blue eyes and a white hat with a brown feather.

Personality: She has a good heart but also a terrible temper. She will forgive often but not before yelling and berating someone for whatever they have done wrong. Animals are drawn to her, and she is able to talk to them.

History: She was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. Her parents enrolled her in a Commoner school at a young age so that she could practice her divine talents. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Motivation: Retire the richest woman in the west; and meet up once more with her childhood friend

Personality: He hates Halflings with a passion. As such he is filled with self loathing. He has a taste for the finer things and spends a great deal of money on luxuries, some more exotic than others.

History: He was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. A freak accident while working with his Priest mother left him crippled. After months of barely getting by, Bhevek managed to ambush a major caravan with a load of valuables. Instantly wealthy, he made his way to the capital under a new identity.

History: Born to a pair of adventurers, Helen grew up listening to her father's many stories. She made a point of taking high paying jobs and getting most of it up front. She has built up a small fortune and can afford her own way.
