History: He served in the navy to pay for his family's outstanding loans. When Curran reached his early adolescence his Halfling mother passed away. Feeling disconnected from the small nearby village afterwards, he decided to travel. His rounds led him into the Army with a few individuals who would become his life-long companions. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Melissa was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. A few years later when the east was not economically sound they moved to her current location. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Personality: She trusts no one. She is not readily capable for forgiveness and her ire never leaves her. She enjoys reading and quiet.

History: Born in the west to a Shipwright, Bree learned a great deal about her mother's area of expertise. She couldn't stand her childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with her mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. She has set out to sabotage the competition.
