History: Born in the north to a Dyer, Dalaba learned a great deal about her father's area of expertise. Since her father passed away years ago, her mother had doted on her, and she came to think her herself as special and better than other people in town. A notion that was reinforced by her attractiveness, a trait in which she easily excels the other women of her town. She has set out to sabotage the competition.

History: He was born in the east. Through the years after Oppleby was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the east. Oppleby's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Motivation: He wants nothing more than to rejoin the army.
