History: She was born with several neurological imbalances, which makes sleep difficult for her. It may also be what makes her so good at details. Her mother was a mechanic, and taught her how to fix just about anything. She's since become an addict/alcoholic.

Motivation: Regain custody of her son.

History: Gifted from a young age, Merla studied abroad. Her family was being driven out of business by several neighboring competitors. The mother sought out extralegal help and others began closing their doors. She saw this and took pride in her mother's willingness to do anything to win. She has since lost track of the people in her past.

History: Tethren was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Expert, to bring honor to his family’s name. When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Expert in service of a powerful lord somewhere. Ostracized due to the martial powers of his oldest brother, he and his siblings struck out on their own. In the process these unassuming Tieflings became a terror of the countryside. He became a plane-shifter, and is stopping over on this plane for a brief visit.
