It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. She has done her darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: His father raised him in a mountain cabin. He found a children's book about a Dwarf Monk who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. He modeled his life after the story, seeing himself destined a hero. He has dedicated himself to building a better trade route.
