History: She served in the navy to pay for her family's outstanding loans. When Mastema reached her early adolescence her Tiefling mother passed away. When she came of age, she applied for a position with her town's local guard, looking to work her way up via merit and eventually become a Adept in service of a powerful lord somewhere. A freak accident while working with her Roofer father left her crippled. During her travels, Philomena and her party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Philomena discovered the rest of her party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Philomena fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing her own horrible transformation.
