History: Born to a pair of adventurers, Ulla grew up listening to her mother's many stories. She took every job she could get her hands on, but the opportunities for Gnomes in the west were limited. She has drifted apart from her friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature scythe.

History: He comes from a rich eastern family. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Personality: She is quite rude, and likes to deride her opponents skill and shout insults at them. She is often prim and proper but will on occasion tell either really disgusting or offensive jokes, which seem out of character.

History: Her mother raised her in a mountain cabin. When she came of age, she joined a caravan that would eventually take her to the capital. She would practice along the way and, when she arrived, be apprenticed to a Ruler. She has set out to sabotage the competition.

History: When he was but 7 years old his parents immigrated from the south. He was an athlete and attended two major summer competitions. He never won. He left for the south, certain he would find work there.

Motivation: He is wracked by social anxiety; and wants to have a good time and be beloved

Personality: Soft-spoken and well mannered, he has an amazing amount of patience and a slow boiling temper. His home and work are filled with various knick knacks he has acquired through the years. He cares a great deal for his adopted teenage son.

History: Hugh was born with his father's beautiful face. His first spouse was a Soapmaker, they had one son, but his spouse won total custody. Without his spouse to temper him he grew out of control. He has since lost track of the people in his past.

Motivation: Find a way to reverse the transformation of his brother; and he has money and likes to spend it
