After coming to the age of reason, Mastema took it upon herself to study the divine arts in their entirety; because of this, she was labeled a dark omen and banished from her homeland. She is untrained/undisciplined, which makes her dangerous.

Her mother taught her the rudiments of the Animal Trainer arts, while her father instructed her in etiquette, music and courtly manner. When she came of age, she joined a caravan that would eventually take her to the capital. She would practice along the way and, when she arrived, be apprenticed to a Animal Trainer.
