History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Direcris was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. Description: She wears many layers of old clothing at all times. She is bald on top and has large red tufts of hair around her ears. Her eyes, though not visible through her cowl, are blue.

Personality: She is quite gentle and does not know the full extent of her strength. She works very hard to maintain that gentleness. She cannot deal with unfamiliar people for more than a few minutes at a time and if they persist she will grow angry at them.

History: A child with a great deal of painting talent her parents made sure she got the chance to thrive. In her 17th year, her parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Heather alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

History: Born to a Guard, his mother struggled to pay the bills. After coming to the age of reason, Adelard took it upon himself to study the necromantic arts in their entirety; because of this, he was labeled a dark omen and banished from his homeland. He left for the south, certain he would find work there.
