Through the years after Nirgel was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Nirgel's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. After a long history of fighting, Nirgel and his spouse have recently divorced.

History: Bertram was raised in a hard working conservative environment. At a young age he wooed the heart of his future spouse and the two had a long relationship before they wed. He has drifted apart from his friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature halberd.

Motivation: He feels threatened by others; and he is terrified, and will act out of fear

He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.
