History: She was a bastard born out of an affair, and her father always resented and mistreated her for it out of spite. Through the years after Joan was born, her father became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Personality: She takes her job very seriously, in part because she fears she cannot get a new one. She enjoys reading and quiet.

History: From birth she was tutored by a cruel and relentless mentor. Quick liked to wander the woods near her home when she was young, something she still likes to do at least once a week. She never liked modest clothing or shoes, so she would wander the woods barefoot and lightly dressed, and she developed a good sense of balance and learned how to climb and swim well. She has set out to sabotage the competition.

History: She was raised happily, as a normal child born to her father and mother. Her father taught her the rudiments of the Shepherd arts, while her mother instructed her in etiquette, music and courtly manner. She was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. Her spouse died of illness and she inherited everything. She has been saving her money to try and buy her brother's freedom.

History: Born in the west to a Shipwright, Kilvar learned a great deal about his mother's area of expertise. He was an apprentice working in his mother's forge. After a long history of fighting, Kilvar and his spouse have recently divorced.

Motivation: To reunite with his old friends; and a need for knowledge about a nearby landmark

History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. His mother had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted him to inherit them. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

Motivation: Several ex partners dislike his way of doing things and want revenge; and wants to open a new tavern
