Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by brigands. Ekk was horrified and prayed that her father was alright. However, she heard that her father had died fighting off the brigands.

Her father taught her the rudiments of the Mayor arts, while her mother instructed her in etiquette, music and courtly manner. A serious injury left her father unemployed and in need of constant care. Her family became saddled with debt trying to care for her infirm father. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.
