He was working during a period of war, and as one of the natives he lived in fear of joining the others in being slaughtered. He saw the brutality and swore off his fighting aspirations, taking his younger sister on his back after seeing his parents die, and fled the country. History: Born in the north his family was never financially stable. After coming to the age of reason, River took it upon himself to study the necromantic arts in their entirety; because of this, he was labeled a dark omen and banished from his homeland. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by gnolls. River was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the gnolls.
