Aside from being a slave or a gladiator, there isn't much legitimate work for Dragonborns in Perra's homeland. Perra decided to take the middle way and become a bodyguard. She is untrained/undisciplined, which makes her dangerous.

Her spouse died of illness and she inherited everything. When she grew older, she became a bit more civilized, usually hanging around bars and taverns. She began work as a mercenary for hire. She would embark on any mission as long as the price was right.
