History: Melissa hails from a village terrorized by dire rats. Ostracized due to the martial powers of her oldest sister, she and her siblings struck out on their own. In the process these unassuming Humans became a terror of the countryside. Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by dire rats. Melissa was horrified and prayed that her mother was alright. However, she heard that her mother had died fighting off the dire rats.

History: He was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. Cursed with unlife at a very young age, Kody has worked very hard to control his curse. He hopes to save up enough money to one day pay a cleric to cure him.

Motivation: To end his boredom; and he seems to be bored by most things

Personality: Overbrimming with self-confidence, Oppleby isn't afraid of most anything. He has a strong dislike to people who do not believe in Gnomish unity. As he has aged he has sought to do reparations for his actions as a youth. He is also making sure that his compatriots who never received punishment for their crimes are brought to justice.

History: Oppleby lived on a farm with his mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Oppleby grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Oppleby. Recently he has begun working with bootleggers and crooks.
