History: Bertram was born with his father's beautiful face. His spouse left him for another, whom he beat to an almost bloody pulp. He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He has since married many spouses, only to have them die. He claims to not be responsible.

Motivation: He feels the way he acts is they only way to get by in the world.

Personality: She cares much about the opinion of others, both in good and in bad: when keeping in line with her opinion, she thinks highly of the other person, but when opinions clash, she can get violently argumentative. She moves from fascination to fascination almost instantaneously. If something can keep her interest for a month it is impressive.

History: Savaran lived on a farm with her father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. Her father worked until she suffered an accident while they were digging through a hill for a new route. She had to support her now crippled father and took her father's old job. When her spouse passed she lost her only source of income but claims to her sons to still be retired.

Personality: She fancies herself a trickster and likes to rely on her wits to carry the day. She cares for her older siblings and likes to be recognized by them. She is obsessed with finding treasure.

History: She was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. Being born in the east, she completed her medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. She returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. She was a general practitioner in the east for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way west. She has been saving her money to try and buy her sister's freedom.

Motivation: Find a way to reverse the transformation of her sister.
