He was a hard man then and has only learned to fight more as time goes on. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Motivation: He made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it; and to find somewhere to settle down

History: His psionic talent manifested at a young age. Aiming to upstage a rival house, his parents had him trained. His father was very strict, and drilled into him lessons on being the perfect gentleman. He has worked as a Fortune-teller like his father before him.
