History: He was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. When he was little, his rather wealthy family often ventured across the forest to a summer home near a large cave. He would wander through that large cave and adventure through it for days. One day while adventuring a terrible storm took place and he was stranded inside. His family spent the next few days looking for him, and could only assume he was dead when it came time to leave. The family never returned to the forest due to the painful memories there. Shane took refuge in the large cave and found the beat up axe and armor he uses now. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

History: She got into the Dilettante business at a young age. Her first spouse was a Ploughman, they had one daughter, but her spouse won total custody. Without her spouse to temper her she grew out of control. Due to her spouse's obsession with being a Ploughman they were divorced and she won custody of their daughter. She worked as a Dilettante, and she later adopted a second daughter.

History: Heir to a fortune, her parents put a great deal of effort into curing her disease. Cursed with a spirit at a very young age, Elysande has worked very hard to control her curse. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.
