His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. He eventually got the idea of being the protector of his homeland from reading books, and has made it his duty.

Personality: She has schizophrenia that causes her to hear things that aren't there and will sometimes respond to them. She has no love for corruption and racketeering and views those as crimes of the highest magnitude.

History: Heir to a fortune, her parents put a great deal of effort into curing her disease. Her parents died when she was young, and she was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Emeny grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Emeny. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

Personality: Andram hangs on like a leech to those who appreciate him. It was this clingy personality that held back his singing career. He lacks moral complications. He does what he is told to by employers but not much else. He spends his money on whatever he fancies at the time.

History: A child with a great deal of singing talent his parents made sure he got the chance to thrive. He moved from fad to fad and when he turned 15 he discovered singing. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to brigands demanding more tribute than usual.
