History: Shamash hails from a village terrorized by dire rats. His spouse left him for another, whom he beat to an almost bloody pulp. He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and he desires to right it; and he is terrified, and will act out of fear

History: When she was but 6 years old her parents immigrated from the east. At a young age both her parents were killed in an accident. Her uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took her in and had her trained in basic self defense. She has set out to sabotage the competition.

Personality: Confrontational and typically high on some drug or another. He is a bit of a macho man and will challenge people to random contests of strength and skill, and invite them to random hunting and fishing trip.

History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. He was a friend to animals and a trickster. In his defense of animals however he would do severe harm to people. He then took over the family business and is one of the better Shoemaker for hire.

Motivation: Sabotage a competitor; and he is unsatisfied with his job

Personality: Overbrimming with self-confidence, Mara isn't afraid of most anything. She has a strong dislike to people who do not believe in Half-Elven unity. She is susceptible to being scared and is in actuality easily frightened. She likes to tell stories.

History: She was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. Her father was very strict, and drilled into her lessons on being the perfect lady. Unlike her family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, she wanted to work in the city. She has been working here for the past few years.

Personality: She is business-like. She takes instructions and follows them to the letter. She also is a firm believer in the womanly ideal.

History: She was born into a rich family. Mella was a troubled youth. She spent her days as a hard laborer instead of attending school, and spent her evenings with numerous mobsters and gang members. Mella decided she wanted neither the life of her father nor that of the evil petty criminals she associated with. During her early adolescence, she took a sudden opportunity while working the docks and commandeered a vessel that was left unmanned. She has built up a small fortune and can afford her own way.

Motivation: She possesses a valuable artifact that the thieves guild wishes to steal.
