History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Alberich was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He always admired necromantic-users and wanted to develop the talent, but never had the affinity for it. One night he noticed a nearby shooting star which he hiked out to see where it landed. It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

Personality: He is shy and timid. He has not had much interaction with people and is skittish around them. He is very protective of his business, his home, and his spouse. He is willing to work with less than legal methods but maintains the front of legitimacy.

History: He was born into a rich family. His parents were killed by gnolls in a raid when he was still a young child. The gnolls captured him, and made him a slave and general play-thing. He was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to his deformed appearance. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by gnolls, and he desires to right it; and someone believes him a fraud

History: He was born to a pair of big game hunters, but was frequently ill as a child. He was a friend to animals and a trickster. In his defense of animals however he would do severe harm to people. He has since lost track of the people in his past.

History: Heir to a fortune, her parents put a great deal of effort into curing her disease. A freak accident while working with her Mercenary mother left her crippled. She has built up a small fortune and can afford her own way.

History: She was a bastard born out of an affair, and her mother always resented and mistreated her for it out of spite. She has had some formal poetry training, and achieved minor success. She has worked as a Ruler like her mother before her.

Motivation: Sabotage a competitor; and to find somewhere to settle down
