He remains aloof and afraid to be himself due to all the ideals others have placed upon him.

Her uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took her in and had her trained in basic self defense. When her spouse passed she lost her only source of income but claims to her daughters to still be retired.

Her partner is her best friend in the world. The two are very close despite being more or less each other's opposites. She does not trust anyone and sleeps with one eye open.

History: Ranala hails from a village terrorized by illithids. She found a children's book about a Gnome Warrior who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. She modeled her life after the story, seeing herself destined a hero. When she grew older, she became a bit more civilized, usually hanging around bars and taverns. She began work as a mercenary for hire. She would embark on any mission as long as the price was right.
