His father taught him the rudiments of the Tanner arts, while his mother instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. His father was a soldier and died while he was still young. Oriax was left his father's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.
