History: A powerful brothel owner made her what she is. She worked as a nervous Engraver and found it very stressful. She now owns her own business.

Personality: Birel hangs on like a leech to those who appreciate her. It was this clingy personality that held back her poetry career. She is skeptical of what others tell her and is slow to trust.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious northern family, she was no stranger to responsibility. She inherited a moderately successful company from her mother. Under her leadership it has flourished, and using capital from her venture she effectively owns an entire region. She got away from her former life and has fallen to alcoholism.

Motivation: She is compelled to act according to her religious beliefs.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious southern family, he was no stranger to responsibility. His father disappeared, and while he tried to raise money to find his father, he was betrayed dozens of times. He has been saving his money to try and buy his brother's freedom.

Motivation: To reunite with his absent father.
