History: Sold as a small child to a brothel owner, Pearl was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. A gypsy cursed her at a young age, leading to her ugly appearance. She has gone from town to town working and never settling down anywhere, but has fallen for a local Layabout. She hasn't told them the truth, but wants to settle down with them.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious southern family, she was no stranger to responsibility. Her parents divorced when she was young, and her mother gained full cudstody. She was regularly beaten by her mother, who blamed her for driving them apart. After a long history of fighting, Donella and her spouse have recently divorced.

History: The child of eastern immigrants she idolized her father. Ostracized due to the arcane powers of her oldest brother, she and her siblings struck out on their own. In the process these unassuming Half-Elves became a terror of the countryside. She moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Personality: While he is on the job, he is grim and serious. He understands how dangerous the world is and the need to stay safe. He cannot resist a sob story and will often dote over anyone who has one.

History: Born to a poor family in the city he treasured whatever gifts he got. In his 17th year, his parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Oskar alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He now spends his time doing works of charity.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and he desires to right it; and seeks redemption
