Her mother taught her the rudiments of the Bather arts, while her father instructed her in etiquette, music and courtly manner. Through the years after Gunnloda was born, her mother became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the east. Gunnloda's mother didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone.
