History: Born the oldest of a large religious southern family, she was no stranger to responsibility. Through the years after Vani was born, her father became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the south. Vani's father didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

History: He grew up in a lower middle class home, but living comfortably wasn't enough. He struck it rich when he found rare goods in large quantities. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

Motivation: To prove his worth to the world; and to end his boredom

History: Born in the north to a Detective, Godfrey learned a great deal about his mother's area of expertise. He graduated from the Naval Academy and went to see the world at the rank of Ensign. He advanced relatively quickly due to his good work ethic, understanding of the chain of command, and natural leadership ability. He has drifted from career to career and currently works as a Detective.
