History: He was born in a small forest village. In his 16th year, his parents were killed by a brigands raid, leaving Shifting alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to brigands demanding more tribute than usual.

Personality: She seems absolutely devoid of it. She stares off into space and will respond with overly literal and minimalist answers to questions. She is fiercely devoted to her father, and views her father's ex-spouse as an evil person for separating her from her legal half-sister.

History: She was born a particularly ugly child, much to the horror of her parents. Being born in the north, she completed her medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. She returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. She was a general practitioner in the north for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way east. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

History: He was born to a wealthy landowner in a frontier town, living a normal and happy childhood. He was one of the best in his class, and was picked up by his current employer. He quickly showed his capability and was soon promoted to a head role. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

He tries to control his temper but he can't always stop himself from what he feels what must be done. Despite his manner, he is extremely passionate and proud of his job, and he prides himself in being thorough and never missing a detail.

History: Thradal lived on a farm with his mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. He moved from fad to fad and when he turned 15 he discovered writing. He became a Map Maker soon after.
