History: He was born several months after his mother was called into army service. He took every job he could get his hands on, but the opportunities for Tabaxis in the west were limited. When his spouse passed he lost his only source of income but claims to his daughters to still be retired.

Motivation: To find somewhere to settle down; and his spouse's relatives view him with great suspicion

History: She got into the Carter business at a young age. Like her mother and her sister before her, after school she went straight into learning to become a Carter. She has dedicated herself to building a better world.

Motivation: She is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences her actions; and she's looking for her big break
