He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when orcs swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. He inherited a moderately successful company from his mother. Under his leadership it has flourished, and using capital from his venture he effectively owns an entire region. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by orcs. Conrad was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the orcs.

History: She was born in a small plains village. Her father took her hunting and taught her how to get in the mind of other creatures. She now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

Motivation: She would like to get married and retire; and she is wracked by social anxiety
