History: A studious child she never was much for a social life, not because she was unlikable, but because she did not seek it out. Vaina was born on a far eastern plains where she grew up under the tutelage of her father, an expert Carpenter. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

Personality: While she acts the brute, she is far gentler than she would appear. Her respect, as difficult as one would find it to earn, is unwavering; those who more than prove themselves to her, a bar set well above any reasonable standard, she tolerates in varying degrees. Though less modest and more hasty in her reactions to snap at those who irritate her, Orla is combative with any and all who dare try her patience in the slightest.

History: Orla hails from a village terrorized by illithids. As a young adult she joined a group advocating for an improvement in Gnomish conditions. Recently a tribe of illithids attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. Orla fought at the side of some of the regions greatest heroes but was never overshadowed.
