His respect, as difficult as one would find it to earn, is unwavering; those who more than prove themselves to him, a bar set well above any reasonable standard, he tolerates in varying degrees. Though less modest and more hasty in his reactions to snap at those who irritate him, Adelard is combative with any and all who dare try his patience in the slightest.

He was regularly beaten by his mother, who blamed him for driving them apart. He left for the north, certain he would find work there.

History: She was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. Through the years after Barbena was born, her mother became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Barbena's mother didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.
