He's since become an addict/alcoholic.

Personality: She is shy and timid. She has not had much interaction with people and is skittish around them. She loves her children and doesn't want them to worry about her. She loves to share her writing with anyone who is interested.

History: Volen lived on a farm with her mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. She moved from fad to fad and when she turned 15 she discovered writing. She has been saving her money to try and buy her sister's freedom.

Motivation: An old rival family wants her found.

History: Heir to a fortune, his parents put a great deal of effort into curing his disease. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He has drifted from career to career and currently works as a Interpreter.

Personality: He cares much about the opinion of others, both in good and in bad: when keeping in line with his opinion, he thinks highly of the other person, but when opinions clash, he can get violently argumentative. He is a bit of a xeno-phobe, disliking non-Gnomes.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his mother always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. His childhood dream was to be a Servant, but he was a colossal failure. He has set out to sabotage the competition.
