History: He was born to a criminal king-pin and mafia family In his youth he was part of a gang. He got caught, but did not rat out his comrades and served his time in prison. He used his abilities to trick people and travel the world for free.

Motivation: A rival would like him out of the picture; and he is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions

History: Born to a pair of adventurers, Caeldrim grew up listening to his mother's many stories. From there he went from mercenary job to mercenary job. He now spends his time doing works of charity.
