Description: This fat western woman has a bulbous nose and dresses in collared shirts and wears a proper scarf over her head. Her skin is also unnaturally pale. Her feathered hat is riddled with cuts and holes. Her face is feral with sharp distinguishing features. Her spectacle hidden eyes are a deep gray.

Personality: She is very quiet and rarely speaks above a whisper. Around other people she will do her best to conceal her emotions and appear jolly.

History: The child of a Cartwright, who enjoyed hunting, Jacoba was taken on many hunting expeditions. Jacoba liked to wander the woods near her home when she was young, something she still likes to do at least once a week. She never liked modest clothing or shoes, so she would wander the woods barefoot and lightly dressed, and she developed a good sense of balance and learned how to climb and swim well. She has gone from town to town working and never settling down anywhere, but has fallen for a local Cartwright. She hasn't told them the truth, but wants to settle down with them.

Description: This dark-skinned male very much looks the part of a Navigator. He is tall, broad shouldered and powerfully built. He has shaved his head bald. His eyes are violet and catlike.

Personality: He is highly sensitive about his name. He loathes it, but will not take any guff about it from anyone. He does not believe in violence as a means to an end. He is a dedicated Navigator but believes his peers are too gung-ho.

History: His parents moved while he was still in utero so he is the first generation to be born here. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Ortegar grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Ortegar. He has achieved small success as a Navigator.

History: A child with a great deal of poetry talent her parents made sure she got the chance to thrive. She moved from fad to fad and when she turned 15 she discovered poetry. Unlike her family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, she wanted to work in the city. She has been working here for the past few years.
