When she was little, her rather wealthy family often ventured across the desert to a summer home near a ruined castle. She would wander through that ruined castle and adventure through it for days. One day while adventuring a terrible storm took place and she was stranded inside. Her family spent the next few days looking for her, and could only assume she was dead when it came time to leave. The family never returned to the desert due to the painful memories there. Lia took refuge in the ruined castle and found the beat up shield and armor she uses now. She tends to her Spice Merchant job now, and dutifully fulfills any obligations she has.

Being born in the east, she completed her medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. She returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. She was a general practitioner in the east for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way west. Some 7 years later her spouse died after the birth of her daughter. Heartbroken, Ownka never married again. Instead she focused her life to raising her daughter whom she trained as her father had trained her before.
