He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Laborer hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He remains aloof and afraid to be himself due to all the ideals others have placed upon him.

Motivation: He is a bit of a kleptomaniac; and he is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions

He lacks moral complications. He does what he is told to by employers but not much else. He spends his money on whatever he fancies at the time.
