History: A studious child she never was much for a social life, not because she was unlikable, but because she did not seek it out. Her mother took her hunting and taught her how to get in the mind of other creatures. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

Motivation: A rival would like him out of the picture; and he is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions

Personality: In the realm of puns, he cannot help himself. He feels obliged to make them. He claims to be unscrupulous but at the end of the day he will do what he thinks is right.

History: He was born in a small desert village. When he came of age, he joined a caravan that would eventually take him to the capital. He would practice along the way and, when he arrived, be apprenticed to a Ruler. He has set out to sabotage the competition.
