Her family became saddled with debt trying to care for her infirm mother. Unlike her family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, she wanted to work in the city. She has been working here for the past few years.

History: She was raised by priests from a young age. Through the years after Keyleth was born, her father became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Keyleth's father didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.
