History: She was born in the south, but her parents moved at a very young age to the north. She dropped out of school to support her sick father, and resented it. She moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Motivation: Find a way to reverse the transformation of her sister.

She does not believe in violence as a means to an end. She is a dedicated Scribe but believes her peers are too gung-ho.

History: Mella was raised in a hard working conservative environment. She was an apprentice working in her father's forge. She then took over the family business and is one of the better Scribe for hire.
