His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. He has never given up on his writing dream.

Personality: Volen hangs on like a leech to those who appreciate her. It was this clingy personality that held back her painting career. She is skeptical of what others tell her and is slow to trust.

History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Volen was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. She couldn't stand her childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with her mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. She remains aloof and afraid to be herself due to all the ideals others have placed upon her.

History: She comes from a rich eastern family. She moved from fad to fad and when she turned 15 she discovered dancing. She spent several years traveling with her friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.

Motivation: She made a deal with a demon which lead to her current lot in life, and she's becoming increasingly nervous about it; and she has passion for adventuring and risk
