Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Soapmaker they were divorced and he won custody of their son. He worked as a Engraver, and he later adopted a second son.

She saw this and took pride in her father's willingness to do anything to win. Being a Fletcher kept her interest for a while, but then she became depressed and bored. So she turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.
