His mother taught him the rudiments of the Cartwright arts, while his father instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. Like his mother and his sister before him, after school he went straight into learning to become a Cartwright. He has set out to sabotage the competition.

Personality: She considers herself the protector of her home. She feels this is her duty and calling. She is used to getting what she wants. In part because she is a meticulous planner.

History: Her father raised her in a mountain cabin. Her mother was a mechanic, and taught her how to fix just about anything. She eventually got the idea of being the protector of her homeland from reading books, and has made it her duty.

Motivation: She's looking for her big break; and to protect her home

Personality: He is a sleazy, sleazy guy. He has no qualms about using his powers of suggestion to get people to do what he wants. He spends most of his days drinking in the Inn, the rowdiest and most dangerous establishment in town. There he gambles, wrestles and listens to stories told by travelers.

History: A child with a great deal of poetry talent his parents made sure he got the chance to thrive. He has had some formal poetry training, and achieved minor success. He used his abilities to travel the world and help people.

Motivation: An old rival family wants him found; and wants to raise his children well

Personality: She hates giants. She views them as having robbed her home of its proper glory. The war was a terrible time for her, and Nagrette does not often speak of it. When she does, she does so with a strained expression and tears in her eyes.

History: The child of eastern immigrants she idolized her mother. She married young, but lost her spouse to giants. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to giants demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: Someone believes her a fraud; and she wants nothing more than to rejoin the army
